Congratulations to David! David Archuleta sold 183,000 copies in it’s first week and debuted at # 2 on the Billboard 200!

The next three slots on The Billboard 200 are debuts, with “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta starting at No. 2 with his self-titled 19 Recordings/Jive album on sales of 183,000. The 29th edition of the multi-label “Now That’s What I Call Music!” series begins at No. 3 with 172,000, while T-Pain’s “Thr33 Ringz” (Kovinct/Nappy Boy/Jive) opens at No. 4 with 167,000.

And according to SoundScan over at USA Today’s Idol Chatter , Crush has sold 991,657 copies just shy of 8000 copies from going platinum! But it will be platinum by next Wednesday for next week’s chart. We’re all so immensely proud of David and all of his success. David also thanked us the other day with a unexpected short blog below if you haven’t read it and we think his sales and everything that’s happened so far is the reason the why.
